Background
Background: Envirolutions Consulting, LLC conducted a “Route Review” or a contamination monitoring survey of residential, multifamily and commercial accounts on the garbage routes in the City of Concord in December 2022. The purpose of this project was to comply with the requirements under SB 1383 for haulers routes to be audited annually to monitor for contamination and to provide feedback and educational materials to generators when issues were found. The project was designed in coordination with the waste and recycling service provider Mt Diablo Resource Recovery and included reviewing 2-4 routes daily over the course of 5 days for a total of 507 sites audited. Two teams of two headed out each day to complete the project in just one week. The streams audited were trash, and recycling and organics containers when present. The data from the contamination monitoring was captured directly in the field into the Recyclist app or written on audit sheets manually in the event the app was not available. A final report on activities, challenges, achievements and recommendations was provided to the project funder at the conclusion of the project. |
